Julie Brocklehurst is the designer and maker behind the brand, Logy Made.

Celebrating the rich tradition of crocheting that has engrossed and occupied generations of Newfoundlanders, Julie makes traditional granny square blankets from her cozy home in Logy Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her designs are minimal and modern, with a nod to the past. All items are handmade with love and careful attention to detail. Julie takes pride in creating custom pieces and heirloom quality modern crochet goods.

“Steeped in warmth and comfort,

these blankets feel like home.”

Julie Brocklehurst was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.  She currently lives in Logy Bay with her husband, Andrew and two beautiful children.

Handmade Traditions

Traditionally, granny square blankets were created by the marriage of form and function, of style and practicality, of beauty and need. In creating her designs, Julie carries on a celebration of handmade tradition and cultural creativity, just like the beautiful grandmothers who made them for the same reasons long ago.

Local Roots

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Julie spent some years travelling and living abroad, before returning to her roots and her home on Canada’s far east coast. Influenced in design and aesthetic by the vernacular of rural Newfoundland, Julie’s blankets are an exploration of the intersection between colour, texture, and pattern.

Coveted Crochet

Julie’s work has been showcased in several episodes of HGTV’s Rock Solid Builds. Logy Made was recently featured in the Maritime EDIT(ion), The Downhome Magazine, Pie NL Part 2, and will be featured in an upcoming issue of East Coast Living magazine.
